TESTING GIVES YOU A ROADMAP FROM WHERE YOU ARE TO WHERE YOU WANT TO GO.
VO2 TESTING
VO2 max is the measurement of the maximum amount of oxygen a person can utilize during vigorous exercise. The assessment is often utilized to establish the fitness state of an athlete prior to or during the course of training. It is one of several tests used to determine an athlete’s performance capacity. This testing allows for observation of macronutrient utilization at different intensities of exercise.
-
- Used for all levels and types of athletes
- For any exercise mode, method, or apparatus
- Testing available out in the field in actual sporting conditions
- Progressive intensity test
- Training zones determined from data
- Caloric consumption (fats/carbohydrates) at varying heart rates
- Comprehensive training workbook delivered via email
Require that you wear a mask and breathe through a tube attached to a PNOE metabolic cart where gases will be analyzed.
VO2 testing takes approximately 45 minutes per discipline.
Cost: $150 per test/mode
LACTATE TESTING
Lactate threshold is the point where buildup of lactic acid begins. Your muscles are producing more lactic acid than the organs can clear. It is maximum effort level that an athlete can train at for a considerable amount of time.
-
- Used for all levels of endurance athletes
- For repetitive, longer duration sports
- Progressive intensity test
- Utilized for racing strategy
- Useful in determining training zones
Require that you give a blood sample (through a simple lancet device similar to what a person would use to test blood sugar levels) applied to a test strip and analyzed in a blood lactate analyzer.
Lactate testing takes approximately 45 minutes per discipline.
Cost: $150 per test/mode
RMR TESTING
Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) test measures the number of calories that your body burns per day at rest. It indicates your individual energy quotient. This is the amount of energy that comes from fat and carbohydrates. The test will guide you how to “eat for your metabolism” and achieve your goals.
-
- General population and athletes
- Weight loss, weight maintenance, or weight gain
Requires breathing into a tube with your nose pinched while lying in a relaxed position.
RMR analysis takes approximately 30 minutes.
Cost: $150
FIELD TESTING
Field tests are used to refine an athlete’s training zones. The field tests are developed specifically for adding additional information to the athlete’s training progress.
-
- Any athletic ability level
- Monitor an athlete’s return to training after injury or illness
- Monitor an athlete’s progress towards a training goal
- Refine a race plan/strategy
Requires performing an exercise session at progressive or higher intensities utilizing athlete’s own equipment.
